So I'm halfway through my BFR, will have it finished Friday night. Got a plane booked for Saturday but the weather is starting to look a little crummy for Sat afternoon. Anyone with any thoughts about my chances of making it from Hamilton and back for the show? (less concerned about the 'back' part :-)

How about a pre-show meet-up, say, 0930 at the Gold Pass area entrance? .........or perhaps a post show get together at a pub/cafe? any suggestions? Sounds like a plan for the AM at least, see you there

I hope you all have a wonderful time at the show, and I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that the weather is kind. Been sunny and very hot over here the past week, so hopefully that weather has crossed the Tasman.
It's a pity about the Spitfire, but I am sure that there will be plenty of other things happening to keep everyone happy over the next two days.
Look forward to seeing a few photos on the forum......hint....hint....hint. ;D

Only 290 odd images to sort through....... I'll warn you now though, I missed the FG-1

I'm heading over on Saturday due weather. Despite the apparent 31 degree heat, I think it makes for better photos than the rain and overcast on Sunday.
Anybody know what frequency they'll be on? The unattended is 119.1. Do they use that?

heat haze will make things difficult if it is 31 degrees but looking forward to the show. Might start that new thread for you Dave. Al and I flew with a plane yesterday on its way to Masterton so I guess that counts.

Only 290 images in one day, Sam - you're not trying hard enough! ;D And 'only' 31C for tomorrow - nice mild weather then! Anyway, keep hydrated, wear a hat with a proper brim (not those bloody useless baseball caps, lads!), and apply plenty of sunscreen every two hours. Regards, 'Auntie' Craig.

Or to put it another way, 290 divided by 38 gives you 7.6, which is the equivalent number of rolls of 36 shot film...... Praise the lord and pass the Digital SLR! Second the comments about sunscreen, hats and hydration guys. I was out there from 11 til 5 today, perspiring the whole time, and I am not exactly unfit. Still I didn't get sunstroke or sunburn so must have been doing something right! Hot tip for the day courtesy of Senor Mumblismo: Bring along some baby wipes or equivalent to wipe down your hands after you put sunscreen on. This will hopefully prevent the sunscreen getting on things it ought not to, like cameras and lenses and steering wheels (some sunscreens will attack and degrade certain plastics. The steering wheel in my car is pitted in some places for this reason). Also good for cleaning your hands before lunch!

I'd never thought about sunscreen affecting car steering wheels before, might have to watch out for that, I have a habit of not wiping sunscreen off my hands before driving.
