Hi guys,
I'm getting sick of the 'mystery spots' in my photos and am looking for advice and suggestions on the best way to get a D-SLR cleaned.
Planning a lot of photography in the next few months.....

for the fleet of EOS-400Ds and older olympus E20s we hold at work, cleaning other than "line servicing" used to go to C W services in Timaru. We had a student use an EOS on a beach for a week, which put sand all through it! We prefer not to send the cameras to CW now however as the turn around time was horrendous, and it would take 3 or 4 weeks before anyone even looked at them. No amount of explanation that the cameras were critical for University Teaching had any effect. They do a good job, but expect the camera to be away for 4-6 weeks! . many camera shops aparently send thier cleaning / servicing to CW, so there probably wont be any difference elsewhere. We now send our EOS's to the Canon NZ servicing dept (see the Canon web page) and they have significantly shorter turnarounds.

No special insight (I've managed to sort my issues with a hand blower), but phoning the offical agent for your brand (Sony?) will at least give you an option. You might also like to try the agents for other brands (e.g. Macalisters for Nikon), and see what they will do. If you have a local camera store that you trust, ask them for advice (this will probably work better if you have bought stuff from them recently).

Hi, I know this post is reasonably old, but I use the process detailed in the following website. It works, is cheap, and can be done in less than 15 minutes in your own lounge/kitchen/bathroom etc without having to do without your camera for days or weeks. www.prime-junta.net/pont/How_to/a_Brush_Your_Sensor/a_Brush_Your_Sensor.htmlIf you live near AKL and still have trouble I am more than happy to meet over a coffee for some training. cheers kiwicubber
