Second attempt - let's see which jet fighters or attack aircraft (not 'pure' bombers) is the favourite.

The Sabre is one absolutely beautiful jet. I'd also go for a Gloster Meteor, but only the WW2 versions as the later long ones are really hideous !! NICE !!! ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v677/turbo_NZ/meteor31024.jpg) NOT NICE !!! ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v677/turbo_NZ/meteor.jpg)

The A-4 Skyhawk for me, for it's New Zealand connection, and also because it's a battle-proven aircraft. Not to mention a brilliant airshow display. ![](http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q228/flyjoe180/a4_skyhawk_douglas_insig.jpg)

It has to be the Hunter - possibly the most graceful jet ever designed.........
Failing that, one of the century series fighters - they're all good..

I'm with you on that - the Hunter is superb. Every line on it is injust the right place to look classy. The blue note sounds great too.
The next on the list would be a TSR2, but its mainly a bomber (although it was multi role) - best aircraft that never was.

CA 27 Sabre. Biased opininion but generally acknowledged as the ultimate version. Much cleaner design than the Hunter, which is covered in lumps and bumps because of the bits they had to add . TSR2..... Bruce, what have you been sniffing? ![???](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/huh.png) Why do you think they were all chopped up? F14 is a classic, and as for present generation aircraft, the SU27/35 is the machine. Agree with comments on NF Meteor. Ugly as a hat full of monkey bums!

One glaring omission from the list is the English Electric Lightning.
The TSR2 is a beautiful aircraft which was killed by politics - I say 'is' because not all of them were chopped up - there's one about 50km from where I'm sitting......

Love the Tomcat, but if I really had to choose, I'd go for an F-15 Eagle.

Yes I chose the tomcat as well as it looks bloody beautiful head on with wigs back and at speed, but for practical use the F15 would be better as the maintenance hours per flying hours on the tomcat were just huge. I have heard 150 to 1

cost!!??!?!?!?!?!?!?! That is just boring detail!!!!! ;D
F14 is bigger, louder, way more sexy, stupidly expensive.......how can you not love that???
Being practical is no fun!!!!
