For all the Nautical enthusiasts the Cruise liner season is well under way and I have managed to capture a couple leaving Auckland. I hope other enthusiasts at Tauranga, Napier, Wellington, Lyttleton and other ports can catch some of the liners visiting and post them here too. Silver Whisper leaving Auckland in the morning of 5 January. Sun Princess leaving in the evening of 8 January. Colin

There have been some real monsters in Wellington lately; some tower even over the rim of the Westpac Stadium. Great idea Colin, ships can be very magestic and make good topics.

Nice shots Craig. Wellington has some great vantage points Joe. I will keep an eye on Grabaseat for some bargain flights for ship and plane spotting. This one went out on Saturday and will be in Lyttleton tomorrow morning. Diamond Princess coming down the harbour with the museum and Mt Eden in the back ground. The sun started to break through the cloud as she heads around North Head in to the Rangitoto Channel bound for Tauranga. Cheers

More great pics Colin. I will have to search out some good viewing spots in my new locale, when I get there, since they get some monster cruise ships in over there I know where all the good aiprort spotting areas are, but not the sea port ones.

Also taken at Picton, the blades for the wind turbines that are tto be erected in the vacinity. Massive objects! Close Marcus ... these blades arrive into Picton (Shakespeare Bay) direct from the Netherlands where they are made, unloaded from the cargo ships onto the dock, then shipped individually across Cook Straight to Oteranga Bay for the Makara wind farm. It takes around a week of non stop back and forth across the straight by two barges to move one shipment from Holland. There were 5 or 6 shipments scheduled to arrive from mid December to the end of January. I did get a couple of pics of two of the Dutch vessels if anyone is interested.

Nice pics of the QM2 Colin I got a lovely shot of a cruise ship docked in Brisbane yesterday off the wing of the NZ A320 as we landed, but unfortunately the camera had a hissy fit and the memory card decide to die meaning I lost all 80 photos from yesterdays flights
