apologies if this story has been posted on the forum before Cessna A37 Dragonfly Flies Again Thursday, 29 January 2009 The Cessna A37 Dragonfly took off on a long overdue trip to Auckland on Sat Jan 24 2009, from Tauranga City airport. The scream of the 40 odd year old Vietnamese veterans' jets reminding onlookers of the horrific startup/running costs probably attributing to its extended 2 year grounding. The photos show the Yak52 graciously giving way whilst passing ,with the Boeing Stearman biplane quietly awaiting its turn on the tarmac. www.classicflyersnz.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=71&Itemid=2

I noticed it parked on the Southeast Apron at Ardmore a few days ago, not sure if it's still there.

I hadn't realised that it had been grounded for two years till I read the email from Classic Flyers the other day. Good to know it's active again. It's a really neat jet to see and especially when displayed by the incomparable Gavin Trethewey.

And since Colin snapped it, the A37 has been slipped into the hangar as shown in the background of his image. Mike.

Two years? That's odd....I distinctly remember an A37 flying at the Ohakea open day last year! Nice to see it up and running again, though.

Is there still another A37 in New Zealand which was being done up years ago for a English pilot?

The A37 was at Wanaka last year too- more like a nearly one year grounding

70-1296 was registered ZK-ITL (NTU) and ZK-JNF to Bruce Black, Auckland and then Wing & Rotor Aviation Ltd., Ardmore. Registration was cancelled 26/10/2001 as sold abroad. Did it go, or is it still here?
