Brendon Deere has kindly sent me these photos to post onto the forum so you can all see his lovely Mk IX Spitfire wearing its new paint. Doesn't it look fantastic? Brendon says that it will move to No. 1 Hangar tomorrow morning, which is the home of the RNZAF Historic Flight, and will return to the paint shop in two weeks time to have the stencilling and Wing Commander's pennants applied. Thanks Brendon, it's wonderful to see the Spitfire getting so close to flight.

Wow the aircraft is looking really good now. You just have to love the AL lettering on the side!!!
A great tribute to a great fighter pilot.

I've had to look at these shots almost every morning before work, thanks Brendon for sharing, and for bringing us such a fine tribute to your uncle.
Hopefully within the month we shall have the first Spitfire fully restored in New Zealand take flight. Bring it on!

Yeah, I think he means Al Marshall. All going well I will have a couple of visits up that way soon so Al Marshall might end up coming along anyway.

Lol sorry Baz! *puts on a straitjacket to avoid further ill-thought-out comments* Ha ha no problem it completely slipped my little brain that Al was painted on there for Al Deere. Must be getting old or something!

As Baz's younger brother I can testify to the odd memory lapse and "senior moment". (In fact I can regale you with particular aviation related story involving Baz and a memory lapse....I recounted it about 4 years ago as the best man at my brother's wedding...) lol The Spitfire looks fabulous, hope to see her in the air again soonish!!

Glad to be here thanks. One day I'll have to get out my pics and post a thread. None are in digital format though, wonder what a quick and easy process is to do so...scanning, or something else?
