The hangar in Marcus' photo has been re-clad and tidied up by Central Aero Engineering. It is currently home (Hopefully temporarily only) of my Adventurer CKE. Very interesting photos from both of you.

Does anyone know what or who occupied the two large RNZAF hangars at the other end of the airport between the RNZAF moving out and NZ Aero Engine Service (?) and NZAI moving in in the 1970's?

Here's some more pics from the 50's........................ Busy day on the ramp. Another view of the hangar (nice party lights) with ZK-APF. Some junk dumped behind the hangar. Inside the hangar. The buckled Tigers above were the result of this unfortunate coming together on the 4th March 1950. I've got some more if you're still interested.

Not much of the airfield i'm afraid but a peek at the Waikato Aero Clubs, clubhouse. This photo taken in May 1967 when I flew CGP to Hamilton then on to Taupo.

Some junk dumped behind the hangar. Trying to work out which Robertson's Tiger that one is, given that the last letter of the registration is partly obscured. The only one that seems to fit is ZK-APF (again). In the previous pic, it is owned by the Waitomo AC of Te Kumi, so would have been visiting Rukuhia at that time. Jim you may be interested to know that ZK-CGP is basically still with us, having been rebuilt as a T3A ZK-DSZ and lately been reborn as ZK-XXI and based at Mt Maunganui. Old Airtourers don't always die! Is the old green hangar the one that was shifted from Bryant's prewar Hamilton airfield out by Te Rapa to Rukuhia?

Thanks Peter, I did not know that. I have also flown DSZ and did not realise I had flown it before.
