I have been meaning to sort out posting photo's for ages, I finally went against the best intentions of gender and realised that sometime instructions are useful.....I hopethis doesn't count as addressingmy female side.... Here is NZ3119 about to loaded into it's container before heading out over the pacific. I took this pic on a trip out to Dairy Flat approx 1 1/2 years ago. It now resides at the Tri State museum, USA, continuing on it's journey back into the air....

I suppose that means it will end up with sharks teeth!

??is this a reference to the a/c being in the US.. At least it had RNZAF markings when it went, not AVG markings and NO SHARKS TEETH on the cowl..... The Tri state web site makes reference to Geof Fisken and has a picture of a Kiwi kittyhawk, so just maybe, there is reason to be hopeful that these markings will remain.
Now, I better go check my lotto ticket so that I can go get my own P-40, with out those teeth....

Nice to see the photo Sputnik. It's a sad occasion but hopefully it will one day fly in RNZAF colours. Who knows, it may even return home someday like NZ3009 did.

I second Dave's comments. Thanks for posting, any shot of NZ3119 is nice to see. Lotto Kittyhawk......I'm thinking mine will be painted as NZ3072....with the two-seat conversion There's a few exceptions to the Teeth rule in the US....the one with a parrot's head on the cowl comes to mind

I also have a pic of the wings too, I'll find this and post it too, to complete this little set.... I have lots of pics of aircraft around NZ I have taken ove the years too. Does anyone know the history of NZ3119; active service, kills and post war??

According to adf-serials.com:
"Assembled by No.1 Aircraft Depot, Hobsonville and BOC at Hobsonville on 21 May 1943. To No.2 OTU, Ohakea. Sold to J. Larsen from Rukuhia on 02 March 1948. One of the last 4 Kittyhawks to be melted down, this aircraft was still extant at Rukuhia in March 1967. To J. Chambers. Presently owned by J. Chambers and with Don Subritzky at Dairy Flat for restoration to airworthy condition."
