Hi all Well now that the 2seater is out of the way, here are the other three 1:72 Spits with a Kiwi connection I'm doing at the mo. And in closer detail: XIV NH799/ZK-XIV. Those familiar with Spits in NZ will recognise this one as the Griffon-powered beast owned and flown by the Alpine Fighter Collection from March 94 to January 96. I've wanted to do this one ever since I saw the WoW 94 book at my primary school's library. Base kit is the Academy XIVc with a bit of filler and a Hawk/Testors Spitfire 22 canopy. Matchbox's IX/XVI kit, which comes with components to do either variant. This will be painted as TE330, the former Slade/Subritzky aircraft now resident in China. Heller's XVIe, being painted as the RNZAF Museum's example. Take the Matchbox kit's undernose intake and radiators, put them on this and you've got a near-perfect low-back Spit. Set to arrive sometime next week is the rather nasty Italeri 1:72 IX, which I'll build as TB863 with an intake from a Hasegawa kit. And here's Spitfire Central: Finally, just because Paul asked, here's my progress on the PCM 1:32 IX, being built as PV270. Instrument panel is Eduard pre-painted photo-etch, included in the kit. Most of the cockpit is resin. Just to give you an idea of size, the Mossie is an Airfix 1:48 kit.

"What if?" model of an ex-RAAF squadron commander's "barge" when he flew for the RNZAF out of Ohakea. Got the backstory on another site which is down for maintenance, came about as I didn't know what to do with an Italeri Vb I got. Silly waste of a kit and decals, but ah well, its only plastic

And slightly closer.... Air Force Museum of New Zealand's TE288 the former James Slade and former Subritzky family TE330 Both are, as you can see, not quite yet complete. Must muster a pair of Bs and Vs....as well as paint 288's canopy.....and 330's sky fuselage band....and 288's "Rongotea" and shield...

Thanks Alan! I can't wait to line up all of the 1:72 Spits when they're done, should look a bit like a coffee table Duxford Not keen on the stripes.....must buy some more Tamiya tape.

If you're not that keen on painting the stripes you could always cut some black and white decal sheet to suit.

My last 72nd Spit, at least until the new Airfix IXc comes out, is the Italeri IX being built as TB863/ZK-XVI. Paint is drying and I should have some nice pics for you tomorrow. Using the Hasegawa carb intake as the Italeri one is horrible.
Re the stripes, good idea Dave! Already one of the roundels on NH799 has come off, without me even touching it. I wish Academy would get some decent adhesive for their decals.

The current line up. What an airshow that would be, yes? ;D Rather than start a fresh thread, here's some shots of TB863. Base kit is the Italeri 1:72 IX, using the included pointed rudder. A fellow modeller in the USA sent me a Hasegawa lower cowl/carb intake to replace the horrendous square Italeri offering, and I cobbled together codes from my spares box. Also cut off and swapped around the cannon and gun stubs to represent an E wing. No serial as yet but I may add it in the future. Kind of disappointing just how bland the FU-P scheme is, but at least I finally have her in my collection. NH799 may be finished by the end of the month. Not looking forward to those stripes. Will probably just mask them, as all the invasion stripe decals I seem to have are Academy....and judging by how NH799's Academy decals are ALREADY peeling, I'm not game to use 'em. And, before you ask, PV270/AL isn't yet present as I plan to build her from the upcoming Airfix IXc kit. Also thinking I should invest in a Revell Mk.V to represent the AFC's former machine AR614/DU-Z...
