Oh, and as for Good Morning or whatever it is, what a crock of poo. Thinly disguised ads amongst rubbish articles. Waste of time, but less likely to offend that a bunch of ads listed as 'Infomercials' which they know noone in their right mind would watch.

Yes, Good Morning is dreadful. I think it's embarassing when they get good guests, especially from overseas on there. God only knows what they think of NZ. The presenters are so awful, especially that nutcase Astor, one of the worst examples of TVNZ's many bad choices for presenting a TV show (eg like Jason Gunn, Paul Holmes, Steve Grey, Paul Henry.... the list is endless)

I took my camera to work the other night for an exclusive peek behind the scenes at some of my fellow Ops dept workmates hard at it. While the News dept toils away creating a bulletin of utmost ... umm .. quality, we busy ourselves making sure all is in order for the subsequent broadcast .... O.k, in reality we're bored rigid with many nights on "standby" between on air and pre-records Cynically yours, Stu

TV3 and especially John Campbell are getting far too over excited about some bi-election is some tin-pot corner of Auckland tonight. Yes we all rejoice that the former incumbant was exported, but who gives a rat's arse that much that we need results fed every 10 minutes long the bottom of the programming and Campbell updating us every half hour to tell us who's in the lead. The first update Campbell and the reporter were going on about Labour needing champagne for their massive victory, meanwhile the onscreen graphics stated only 6% of the vote had been counted. Can't they just tell us who won after the result - just once, in a news update break in the middle of the night. Not continuously over and over right through the primetime evening TV when there's nothng to actually tell. And oh yeah, the result means absolutely buggar all anyway, it's hardly going to topple the government.

Yep I agree 100% with you Dave, the usual case of media in this country overblowing coverage on minor events. Only fit for a brief mention on a late news bulletin and similarly sized article in a Sunday paper. It seems that NZ news media feel they have to ape what happens in overseas countries. Such a waste of resources in a small country like NZ. Like I've said before a half and hour TV news bulletin is enough for NZ and the slack can be taken up with radio, newspaper and internet news ervices easily as you can tell by all of the duplication in these organisations. Far too many journalists in a country of our size, cut back TVNZ to the bare basics and put the extra money into decent programmes (ie not news programmes) or alternatively the money saved can be put into something more beneficial to the country like Defence, Health or Education or actually Research and Development for businesses. Something that benefits the country instead of the overinflated salaries to stroke the overinflated egos of media 'stars'! Rant over............

The first update Campbell and the reporter were going on about Labour needing champagne for their massive victory, meanwhile the onscreen graphics stated only 6% of the vote had been counted. And THAT took up 10% of screen during the simpsons!

Now the All Blacks have lost their first up test to the French cue media obssession with this issue instead of David Bain......

It was obvious that the All Blacks would be second rate without Richie and Daniel, they're the backbone of the team. But the other factors that France is always our arch nemisis (not Aussie or South Africa as the media likes to make out) and that the kiwis really made too many mistakes, made it obvious from the beginning that the French were going to outplay the All Blacks.
All the media needs to report is "You can't win them all" and move on. Sadly, they won't.

What do you see in the Simpsons? As for the All Blacks, they played really badly and got their just deserves. Go Black Caps in the 20/20 World Cup.

Yes, the All Blacks were second rate. No question there. They usually are against France. When they do play well against France they usually get a one-eyed ref against them. like in the World Cup. Last Saturday night they had both things against them.

Maybe if less time were spent on TV endorsments, gruds and hair products they might achieve against such a team?

This is slightly off topic but The Simpsons is bloody funny, especially Seasons 2 to 10. We have 9 frontline players out and the S14 isn't exactly ideal prep for International rugby. The French are playing at the end of their season so combinations are good, the AB's are a the beginning of their international season. Besides it's just a game of rugby......

Getting back to the news coverage, last night 3 News had a report on there which was basically an advertisement for a new Kraft product, vegemite with built in cheese. I mean, that's hardly newsworthy. And it was an Australian report so I guess Kraft got a free advert for their new product in at least two countries.

The Simpsons would be the second worse program on TV.
(The worst - in case you're wondering - is anything by, featuring, interviewing, showing or about Paul Holmes. That gets the instant power-off button).
