Really cool . The shot over the freshly fertilised paddock is really interesting . Was it deliberate ?

Yes we did fly over that paddock to see what effect we would get. It was a small paddock that we flew past initially but I decided to do a U turn and orbit overhead to see what sort of photo we would get against a background like that.

Nice photos Gav. (I don't really like looking at them as they make me pine for my own plane (again!) ;D)

In the words of Frank Costanza on Seinfeld, "Hoochie Mama!!"
That's is such a nice looking Stearman, and fantastic photos too Gavin. Is that an American registration on the tail, or is it part of the original wartime colour scheme?
The fertilised paddock makes a really unusual and interesting backdrop.

I believe the N2S-3 is the US Navy designation for the Stearman Dave.

I was at Omaka when the Stearman arrived, when it first flew again and when it departed with its owner. There was a very good union between the customer and the restoration company. When ZK-BWR left, it was a bit like a surrogate Mum giving up a baby. Antique Aero Engineering are extremely good at what they do. Stuart and Wayne have a gift when it comes to vintage aircraft. I remember reading Wings magazine years and years ago and enjoyed a snippet showing a beaming young pilot celebrating his 16th birthday by being sent solo by his Dad, in his Dad's Tiger Moth. That was of course Wayne and Stuart. When the Stearman left the hangar, it was missed by those of us that had watched it return to life. Since then they have returned AVRO 504K ZK-ACU to life in what was a world class restoration. Their hangar is still busy with at least two vintage taildraggers moving closer and closer to becoming active again.

Was an interesting day when BWR left for Ardmore. Am sure you remember that day well AL as as Pat Donovan departed in the Electra as well.
As you say, the boys are working on some other aircraft which is great and am sure many more aircraft will be rebuilt and flown from Omaka in years to come. "Interesting times ahead" as Graham says.
I remember all to well the Stearman discussions at beer o clock on a Friday.
Will you be there this Friday AL?

Are Wayne and Stuart restoring that Sopwith Pup that had arrived and was in their hangar during the airshow? Or was it just resting there and not one of their projects?
