Four or five years ago me and a mate were on a farm north of Auckland looking for military vehicle parts, found some interesting items sitting around. I think it had came from a playground as it had a lot of names scratched into the paint

NZ 2539 Owned by Ken Jacobs was previously at Havelock North. Ken refuses to talk to anyone these days.

I remember Ken paying us a visit at the Museum in 1980 and we ran the Avenger for him. 2539 is looking a bit sad!

That's a very sad sight to see. Although a more recent photo here shows that maybe an attempt is being made to cover it? www.abpic.co.uk/photo/1165994/Interesting that this Avenger's wartime career was apparently neither in No. 30 or 31 Squadrons but instead in Fiji with the Communications Flight. It must have been used as a transport aircraft?
