That radial engine is real Baz . You can buy them for about 2 grand U.S. Also you can get inline fours and horizontally opposed twins and fours . They are expensive , but nice on a scale model , and cheaper than jets!

The Fox Moth was fine, it just nosed over. It flew again soon afterwards and such is the life for guys who fly these macines. Quite like this aircraft.

Nice photos there Gavin. Does Ron Loader still have his massive RNZAF Hercules at Blenheim? Now that was a model and a half. I saw the original in 1989 at Woodbourne and then the new one he built after the first one crashed in about 1992 at Wigram.

Great photos Gavin, that Herc is a awesome looking model. Is that conair some sort of agwagon conversion? I know they did a fullsize one with a turboprop but this looks a little different in the tail and wing. Edit - ok its an airtractor, why did that slip my mind

Interesting... a Conair Airboss on floats has just nosed over and sunk in Kelowna... during fire fighting ops... Pilot is okay (looks like a gear down problem)! Don't say that often.
Great shots once again Gavin!

Ron no longer has the big C 130, it met it's demise a few years ago, he just has this smaller USCG one now and without all the bells and whistles. That electric Lanc makes a nice change from the wartime ones. And baz, why don't you give it a try? Everyone needs a challenge in life, doesn't have to be a Hercules, try something with a few less cylinders. Hell, guys have done working Merlins so go for it, I'll look forward to hearing how you progress.

Nice to see not only a Phantom, but one in VMFA-451 colours. Looks like it's had recent repairs around the intakes. Just wish people would stop painting them with that insipid electric baby blue that Tamiya seems to have popularised in their 1/32 kits (sorry, just a pet peeve of mine as I have a keen interest in -451). How did that compare to the deskfans mixing up the air? Would have been quite zippy I would think with a pair of ducted fans.

Poor ADI! Fantastic photos Gavin, must be tricky catching such a small subject darting about. The Hercules looks great, did it have retractable gear? How many people does it take to operate it?

Hi Jo, The Herc has retractable gear, and takes one person to operate. They are tricky little buggers to catch!!! Here are a three photos from day two.
