So guys which is it ? Both seem a little dark , 6118 is the darker so is it more likely to be 6251 for which there is not a Humbrol equivalent ? What about something like 6495 ? While we are on the subject , are the middle of the wing undersides and tail planes white ?

The finishing scheme drawing states 16251. And Les should know.

The Grey is 16251. Being Grey any photographs will suffer from colour discrepancies due to different lighting. The grey will appear several shades different dependant on light source and levels. Any grey that is in the ball park will be as accurate as anything else. I will make some enquiries with the 40 Sqn painters and get a colour number for the lighter areas on the wings and tail

Hey Barf , think I heard your name come up in conversation the other day ( assuming that its your nickname , as well as your user name ) . Ever heard of Martin Hair , and from the deep past , Michael Churchouse ?

Thats the man , ( and his wife " bag lady " ) . Think hes not long been back in town , after a posting up north . Good bloke , we always catch up at least once a year , usually staggering around at the local blues and brews festival . Seems in ' the ol days ' a favorite trick was to ring his phone just to listen to him say " its Hair here " ;D
