I have just got in from an awesome evening at the latest show by well known comedian and "opinionist" Te Radar. Its called "Eating the Dog" and I would highly recommend it to fans of NZ history as he tells wonderful stories of little known kiwi characters and their ingenious but sometimes somewhat unsucessful exploits. It is a really funny show, but extremely enlightening (he has done some serious research along the way!) and covers the likes of Thomas Brunner, Bob Semple and his tanks, The Taranaki Highwayman, The Middlemarch submarine, The voyage of the Dunedin, and even aeronuatical pioneers such as Captain Charles Lorraine and Richard Pearse ("Crashed into a Gorse bush - how kiwi is that! its a rite of passage for all NZ boys to go crashing in gorse bushes, they need to plant them in schools and drive the kids into them") He treats all with respect and celebrates those who said, "she'll be right". I would highly recommend seeing the show if it comes near you, see www.radarswebsite.com/projects/eating-the-dogRadar is actually interested in hearing other quirky tales too, so the show will evolve over time to include any other interesting characters he comes across.

That sounds really good Bruce. I really like Te Radar, he's one of our best comedians in my opinion. I really enjoy his TV series's, especially the one where he lived in a field for six months. I also like to listen to his humourous opinions every Friday just before 12pm on Radio New Zealand National. I hope they film this show for TV.
