I am looking to complete a 1/48 Tamiya or Hasegawa kitset of a P-51D Mustang that saw service with the RNZAF. I see Ultracast have available different sets of resin wheels with different tyre patterns for the Tamiya Mustang. Refer www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/Rev1/201-300/Rev238_UltracastP-51wheels/rev238.htmLooking at various photographs of RNZAF Mustangs it looks like that our kiwi Mustangs used either tyres with radial or block patterns not the diamond pattern that appears on the tyres in both the Tamiya and Hasegawa kits I have in my stash. Would anyone be able to confirm what type of tyres were used on our Mustangs that saw service here.

According the David Muir's awesome book "Southern Cross Mustangs", RNZAF P-51Ds were delivered with Cross Block pattern tyres. Square Block pattern tyres also appeared as replacements during RNZAF service.
I hope this helps.
