Well better later in the month than never, having fought our way in the back door:
Just eight new registrations this month. Alpi Aviation Pioneer Jay Hawk ZK-CWJ seems to be the first of this model to appear in NZ, and is the third use of the CWJ marking. The first ZK-CWJ was a Hawker Siddeley HS748-2A for Mt Cook Airlines and the second a Piper PA24 Comanche 180 that is now ZK-KJA/2 in Taranaki.
Three new rotorcraft appear, a Innovator Mosquito XE ZK-IOS for O H Stielau of Auckland (no doubt this will be based at Parakai), a Rotorway A600 Talon ZK-HUO/2 for G R Brown of Rakaia and a Japanese import Bell 206B ZK-IWM for Helicopters Otago Limited.
Pacific Aerospace latest 750XL is ZK-KAX, another Titan T51 Mustang appears as ZK-SMF for a Morrinsville owner and the Glover Family Trust of Mt Maunganui have acquired Zenith CH 601- XL ZK-SRF.
Ms J Grant of North Shore, owner of C172 ZK-VCT, has also acquired a US-imported Cessna 152 which is now ZK-TUT.
An interesting re-registration is ERCO Ercoupe 415C-1 ZK-AQX, which arrived here in 1947 having been flown from Belgium to NZ by the then owner Harold B Newton. Withdrawn from use around 1968, this aircraft has recently been under restoration at Dairy Flat.
Among the ownership changes, Rick Lucas Helicopters have moved their Paraparaumu training fleet into the ownership of Helipro Aviation Training Ltd. Aircraft involved are Maule ZK-SLS Cessnas ZK-CEO/2 ELC ELF ELS EOM FLC FGU Pipers ZK-EKR ROC Robinsons ZK-HFY/2 IGD HGQ/4 HGW/3 HGY/3 HWU/2 and Hughes ZK-HME.
Only a few days later C172 ZK-ELF departed Paraparaumu to return to CTC at Hamilton.
One Lucas Cessna that did not change was 152 ZK-FGD which departed to the Nelson Aviation College prior to the changeover.
Elderly Fairchild-Hiller FH.1100 ZK-HHW has been active since 1967, serving in Canada and the USA before arriving in NZ in 1982. Most recently based in Stewart Island, HHW has now moved back to B C Leddy of Kumeu.
Other helicopter movements see Canadian Home Rotors Safari ZK-HOK/3 trucked south to Runanga, R44 II Raven ZK-HRU/2 flown north from Haast to North Shore Helicopters at Dairy Flat and AS350B ZK-HZO join Helicopter Services at Taupo. The latest Helipro acquisition is R22 ZK-IFM.
The Wellington Aero Club has stepped out of the usual in placing Nanchang CJ-6 ZK-JNA/4 on-line while the Kaitaia club have sold Warrior ZK-RJD to Peter Upton, now at Taipa.
Among the cancellations the usual couple of microlights, Jodel ZK-CTW Ultralight Mirage ZK-EYN Eipper Quicksilver ZK-FEW and Cloud Dancer ZK-KKK are withdrawn while the Airborne XTS-912 ZK-DGZ/2 of Blue Sky Microlight is cancelled following its well-publicised crash at Takaka 9Feb09.
The Waikato Balloonists seem to be having a bit of a spring clean, canceling two balloons, MIZ Waikato Syndicate's Kavanagh D-90 ZK-MIZ and the Balloon Club's Cameron V-77 ZK-LUB
Piper PA-31 ZK-FIL/2 has departed for Australia, while Schempp-Hirth Discus-2T ZK-GOE/2 and Schweizer 269C ZK-HXH/2 have also left.
BN2A-27 Islander ZK-WNZ made a descent into a tidal estuary near Tauranga in late December 2006 and had to be heli-lifted out the next day. Ownership passed from P D Ensor to Great Barrier Airlines Flight Operations Ltd. in December 2007, and the aircraft has now been cancelled. Did it ever fly again after its estuary experience?
