Is this aircraft still only on a 20yr loan from a Canadian museum, or has AFW purchased it?

Thanks, Brett.
Zac - the suggestion that SBY was going to Poland was posted on this thread - just trying to confirm this?
If it does leave, does this mean TVAL won't have a Snipe of its own?

So how many Snipes have TVAL built? Is there a NZ resident? As far as I know, they have built one for Kermit Weeks, one for RAFM, one due to go to Poland? and this one..... Hard to keep track....

What is the story with the Avenger's wing roundels? Why are they so small?

Wouldn't only buying 2 aircraft be a waste of time/money? By the time you factor in servicing and maintenance, there's going to be a significant amount of time when only one a/c is available, and should the one in service develop a fault, the RNZAF's airlift/disaster relief capability would be embarassingly reduced to nothing..

Is there a proposed (permanent) display location for Jack's Bristol Scout?

Someone best get organised quickly then - this won't necessarily stay on the market indefinitely.
I have also suggested something similar on this forum before for Glyn's Mosquito project, and also for the eventuality of John Smith's Mosquito eventually coming on the market (for display at AFW), and I don't think either suggestion got so much as a comment....

How many aircraft of the RNHF aircraft have had accidents? Is this the 3rd Sea Fury? And at least 2 Firefly's?

Spending half a million on engines is just the tip of the iceberg - prop blades are about $20K each to overhaul(x12), tyres, hangar at an airport, operating costs, spares package, systems checks/overhaul, no revenue when it spends a season grounded for servicing, insurance.... and I don't think MoTaT would be overly keen to trade their prize exhibit for a replica....

Finally - a Lanc that ticks all the right modelling boxes (for me, anyway) - lots of mission markings, H2S, nose art, and not already done to death - does anyone know if the original had the fuselage side windows painted over, or were they not fitted at all? Hard to tell from these pics... Thanks

How do you expect the journo's to get it right? This is a forum by/for enthusiasts, and there are 4 different scales mentioned in this topic for the same aircraft.....lol

Its not MoTaT bashing, Dave - I agree that they have made massive progress in the last few years, and I agree that the focus should be on getting everything they can undercover. However, when they devote time, money, labour etc on things like a replica grandslam, that has little relevance, and is of dubious accuracy, as it bears only passing resemblance to the ones on display at Hendon and Brooklands, at the expense of finishing original historical artifacts, in my opinion, MoTaT's focus does become questionable. As for my comments regarding paint schemes - it is surely no harder/more expensive to use the correct shades/finishes than glossy inaccurate ones.... In fact, I'm reasonably sure you have critisized the markings of both the P-40 and the Ventura yourself elsewhere on this forum. As a museum , surely its charter is (or should be) to accurately preserve historical artifacts for future generations - not an artists impression of such....

Engine runs are beyond the scope of most museums - too much money required, too much OSH regulations, too difficult to get aircraft like the Lancaster out of the hangar on a semi regular basis....

because projects at MoTaT appear to get to a certain stage, then focus moves somewhere else? Although if the main concern at the moment is to get the Sunderland, Ventura, etc. under cover - fair enough, but the P-40 hasn't had a wing tip for the entire time it has been on display (15 years?), the Mosquito still needs exhausts, guns, bomb bay door actuators; and the gloss paint on the Hudson and P-40 really detracts from the finished product....

Are the codes on the starboard side being changed to match?
