Sam, we're or own worst critic and while you may not consider it your best work it's one of, if not the best RNZAF Canberra I've seen. Great work

We seem to have got way off subject however I must challenge your opinion. The cost of sending an officer cadet to ADF courses is significantly more per head than training them in NZ. Also the NZ courses turn out officers inculciated in NZDF ethos and doctrine not brainwashed to the Aussie way of doing the defence business which the ADF training produces. Sure a graduate may have peers in the ADF but they have very little understanding of the NZDF where the graduate must work. I find interesting your comment that if you go to an ADF school you are brainwashed whereas the NZDF produces "people who are inculciated (is that a word?) in NZDF ethos and doctrine" I'm interested in why you think the ADF system brainwahses whereas the NZDF system clearly produces such superior military minds.

If they get one I'd hope they keep it inside. The environment there (being so close to the sea) isn't good for long term preservation of aircraft. I was there a few days ago and the sabre is looking a bit tatty as it the Dove(IIRC) You obviously did not see them when they arrived . No But I've I've seen them every year for the past 3 or 4. I go there every year when I'm home on Holidays I remember seeing the Heron as a hulk, and then again after it's restoration. The condition of it and the Sabre hadn't improved in the past 12 months

yes they have done a good job to date. Especially considering the conditions they are working in.

The airshow was held at RAAF Richmond in October 1991. Two Macchis deployed from NZ for it, but one broke down on the way so only one made it to Richmond. They had to fly via Norfolk Island and Amberley. The one that made it was displayed by Herb Keightly. Four Skyhawks from 2 Sqn at Nowra were also there and were displayed in the air and on the ground. I was there with them and got to fly back to Nowra in the back seat of one of the Skyhawks. I remember one awesome piss up in the JR's club that trip Don

Te Papa ? Whilst I would rather see one go there , than be scrapped , surely there would be more deserving places ? Wigram ( the currant one is really only a mock up ) , Ashburton , Ferrymead , Omaka , one back home to Australia, Historic flight ( you never know ) , maybe then TePapa ;D I'm sure Tauranga would like one also . If they get one I'd hope they keep it inside. The environment there (being so close to the sea) isn't good for long term preservation of aircraft. I was there a few days ago and the sabre is looking a bit tatty as it the Dove(IIRC)
