I know there is a lot of interest in No. 4 OTU Squadron's Harvards, especially from John Saunders, so I thought these may be of interest. Taken form the logbook of fighter pilot Neville Jackson, the following Harvard III's were flown by him at No. 4 OTU, Ohakea during August-September 1944, and shows that as well as NZ1041 there are at least four other Harvard survivors from the OTU:
NZ1048 NZ1058 (now at Ferrymead) NZ1060 (now at Point Cook) NZ1061 (became VH-PEM) NZ1066 (became ZK-ENE) NZ1067 NZ1069 (also a survivor?) NZ1072 NZ1073
It may also be of interest wich P-40's were based at No. 4 OTU atthat time, so here are the numbers:
NZ3052 NZ3056 NZ3060 NZ3064 NZ3071 NZ3072 NZ3081 NZ3082 NZ3085 NZ3087
NZ3105 NZ3115 NZ3143 NZ3146 NZ3151 NZ3158 NZ3164 NZ3184
NZ3203 NZ3209 NZ3214 NZ3243 NZ3264 NZ3268 NZ3270

Thanks Dave For such a busy busy unit with many guys going thru it - there are scant few photos left...which is a real shame. What dates was your man on 4 (F) OTU there Dave ? Here are the photos I have of 4(F)OTU aircraft - anyone have any others ? Rgds Hvd1041

Great photos John.
Neville was posted into No. 4 OTU on the 30th of July 1944 with his first flight taking place on the 2nd of August 44. He was posted out on the 7th of September 1944 to the Corsair Conversion Unit.

Just had a quick look at some log book extracts (from RNZAF Museum) and from four different log books note the following over the same period with 4OTU: NZ1035 - 1 pilot NZ1048 - 2 pilots NZ1058 - 3 NZ1060 - 1 NZ1061 - 2 NZ1064 - 2 NZ1066 - 3 NZ1067 - 2 NZ1069 - 3 NZ1072 - 3 NZ1073 - 2
I also have a note that NZ1048 was also flown by 2OTU in the same period, although I don't have an exact date.
I haven't lsted the P40's, but can do if any one is interested

"NZ1069 (also a survivor?)"
