Three ditchings below of Gannets from HMAS Melbourne are the only ones I could see in a quick squizz of the list. Other ditchings were noted to be in Australian waters. Not clear if other information can be found if that info regarding ditching position is not already on www.adf-serials.com Please pick a candidate. You can see you need to provide more information to narrow down the accident. Also one or two 'went over the side' in the sense that they had some kind of 'odd' arrested landing. So you need to clarify if "over the side" to you means in fact "ditching". Geez, I just did something stupid. Typed out a bunch of stuff about what I know particularly about the accident you are interested to know more about; then lost it by looking for Yak2 e-mail. How about you PM me Yak2 so we can exchange e-mail addresses otherwise the thread is taken over by Gannet stuff.
Don't bother with any URLs given earlier because the information is not there. Only the text info you see above. Private e-mail can sort out the rest.

This is a newspaper cutting (badly aged and photocopied before it got to me): I guess you have gone elsewhere so briefly for yak2's benefit (because I'm offline for a bit) I'll state that Sblt Errol Kavanagh is on the left and Sblt John Hutchinson is on the right. Errol was my A4G instructor at Nowra. After he died in a MiG15 crash at Canberra in early 90s some of his photos were eventually scanned some years back. I'll say more from conversations with Errol way back in early 70s about the Gannet crash in a private e-mail to yak2.

This is the only pic I could find of the Errol Kavanagh Memorial Oval, in Canberra. And Senor Hairy, in keeping with the off-threadedness of this thread, I hereby state, affirm and attest my admiration for your bar technique. I hope the brunette on your left was impressed.
