Has anyone else seen it yet? Quite a good movie for the history buffs.

Great casting for the visual likenesses of the three main characters, Amelia, GP and Fred Noonan.
The story and dialogue are a bit flat but the photography is, in the main, quite interesting.

Perhaps more light can be shed on her disappearance by the following.... She obviously had problems with basic navigation - a fault made worse by unrequited love for Ben Stiller playing on her mind. It must be true, it was in a movie

Apart from famously disappearing I really don't know anything about Amelia Earhart. I might have to watch this when it comes out on DVD

Same here Dave. I know she got some sort of (altitude?) record in a Pitcairn Autogiro. Very very keen to see it. The CloseUp interview was interesting, I cringed when Dominic Bowden quizzed her on Jean Batten though.

I cringe whenever I see Dominic Bowden. Such an embarrassment to broadcasting.

Another forum on which I am a member nearly self-destructed over this Aviator. A besotted individual would not entertain any kind of criticism of AE, who was hyped beyond her aviation achievements. Today, her fame today resides largely with her disappearance, thus the film.
As to filming cockpits, in Tora, Tora, Tora they dispensed with glass in many of the character shots, and in American Graffiti they used internal lighting to assist in the night-time shooting, probably part of the logic here.

Richard Gere was probably mis-cast, but the actress who played Amelia seemed to have her off pat.

Not to bad, for a media representation (and we all know how bad the media can be).
The only obvious factual error seems to be presenting the around-the-world flight as being carried out at around 1000' AGL. But of course how else would all those fantastic shots of stampeding herds of vildebeeste be accommodated?
