I just discovered this excellent WWII coloured documentary about life aboard the USS Yorktown aircraft carrier, in seven parts
Well worth a watch. I wonder if a better version is available on DVD.

Thats fascinating stuff. That CO was a grumpy so and so wasn't he in the first one. I'd sure jump when he barked an order!!

I love the fact that it shows all aspects of life on the carrier, right down to the pharmacist and cooks, etc. I had seen clips from this before in other documentaries but never knew knew it was actually a feature film like this.

Discovery has a show on the moment called "Carrier". Covers all dept's and follows a number of different sailors from a general lackie in some deep section, Chief of the boat, pilots etc with their lives on board and family life.... very good show.

Yes it is a good series. Probably fin dit on youtube anyway Dave, there have been so many of those carrier doco's.
