Sorry to dig up an old thread. Does anybody know what the colour of ZK-ASJ was? Never saw ASJ in the flesh, but according to my notes at the time ASI was white with red trim. ASJ may have been similar. Nice photo there dh83. Amazing to see all the flat caps!

Interesting to read this thread on the two New Zealand registered Super Aces. Would be great to see ZK-ASI rebuilt and back in the air.
Re: the colour of -ASJ, I think there were two standard ex works schemes blue/silver and burgundy/silver. Not sure which of these it would have been.
Super Ace c/n 102 arrived in Kenya as VP-KGY in 1949 via Rhodesia VP-YGI. It was written off at Nairobi West 29 Mar 56. I am looking for a photograph of this a/c wearing it's Kenyan marks. Can any one out there help me, please???

I thought all Aces left the factory in silver/blue and that burgundy/silver was the standard colour of Skyjeeps. If it was blue, this is pretty close to the shade. This is c/n 105. Attachments:

Ashburton Aviation Museum should start a thread that I can sticky in the Preserving Aviation board, so we can follow all the happenings on one thread, like we do for MOTAT, Ferrymead, Classic Flyers, etc.

The components of ZK-ASI arrived at the Ashburton Aviation Museum at 17:00 today! But work will not start on it immediately.
We have a Proctor to paint and some of our vehicles are requiring attention. The replica control tower is in the final stages of painting so plenty of work to be done there.

Looking at that photo, the aircraft around ASI include Chipmunk RUC, Harvard ZK-SGQ (NZ1033) and in the rafters is Rearwin ZK-AKA.
