Other Beavers at Bankstown yesterday MacCarthur Onslow's rebuilt Beaver AAO Steve Krug's immaculate Beaver SWB, ex ZK-CKD. Steve does 800 hours a year in this machine which still looks new. Maybe because it is washed, greased and cleaned every night. Sy Allsep's Beaver SYS nearly ready after an engine change. Beaver VH-AUH being rebuilt from the ground up.

Great news to see it's so close to coming to NZ. Thanks for the update Graeme.

Yes, excellent! Did I see somewhere that there are others coming in the near future as well?
Are AZB and BBX the only 2 left with cans in them? Interesting that they happen to be Fieldair's first and second Beavers although you could argue that AZB was East Coast's - it certainly was in their colours the first time I saw it (1962).

Good to see that AZB is making the journey back to NZ.
That's a classic photo of the team behind getting AZB ready for her journey home too: and I'm guessing there'd be a few years of experience behind that collection of faces.
That SeaWings Beaver does look immaculate too, and next time I'm in Sydney I should bite the bullet and take a flight around the harbour in one of those Beavers.
There's something just so right about the look of a DHC Beaver.

That sounds like a good idea Craig, we never know when these things will cease to operate and become history like the Solents and such which are now just history. Experience it when you can, I guess.

Hey Craig, make sure you fly with Sea Wing and Steve Krug and tell him or Jenny when you book that you know me, Graeme the Beaver geek!! They are fantastic people and run a great business. Their Beaver is ex ZK-CKD and looks like new. It is washed every night, has never spent a night in the water and is immaculately maintained. The advantage of having Wipaire floats. I have a heap of photos and info here www.kiwibeavers.com/SydneyBySeaplane.htmlCheers, Graeme

What capacity did it have with the musuem? Was it a roadsign like the C-47 they had on loan? or did it take tourist flights?

You amaze me Dave M, never seen her in that scheme before. I'm waiting on Hallett Griffin to pass on details of your photo. Thankyou and keep digging!!

I certainly will. Do you get down to Sydney very often to see these Beavers in action?
I spent an afternoon watching them late last year, and it was great seeing the floatplane action at Rose Bay - kind of made me wonder how awesome it must have been back in the 1950s and 60s with all those big boats flying out of there.

I get down there as often as I can. Palm Beach is closest and I plan to get down to there as much as possible. That's where Steve & Jenny's Office is. A lovely spot and it's also known as Summer Bay where they shoot Home And Away, I've even had a meal at the Diner!! Lovely beaches all along the Coast right up from Sydney and "other" scenery ain't bad either

A reply from Alison, Halletts daughter regarding the Ohakea photo.
Hi Graeme,
During 1994 we attempted to establish a joy riding operation in conjunction with the Royal NZ Air Force Museum at Ohakea, the venture was not successful.
Thanks, Alison

AZB left Sydney early yesterday and will arrive in Napier on the 16th of February to be assembled by Flight Care. Anyone handy with a camera then would be fantastic. Cheers.
