Just a heads up that there should be some flying going on around Wigram on Sunday for the event below www.airforcemuseum.co.nz/main/WarriorsAtWigram/"Warriors at Wigram 2010 is the theme for the Air Force Museum's annual Open Day on Sunday the 14th of February 2010. Flying displays, mock battles, military vehicles, inter-service challenges, military manoeuvres and Defence Force presentations will be coupled with static ground displays which allow you to get up close and personal with the modern equipment of the current Defence Force."

Yep, two Iroquois wokka wokka-ed in this morning, looks like we'll be seeing at least one of the green machine's toys there as well if the promotional material is up to scratch.

Was at the show today, not too bad with the RNZAF flying display run twice at 1100 and 1500hrs. A long time between displays but the Army put on a 3 stage inter-service competition including an timed obstacle course and a Unimog pull. Also a mock battle with a recon patrol rope inserted by Iroquois, contacted by a enemy vehicle, with the Calvary called in to support and overun the enemy location. Some photo's below: A old friend from my logbook CT4B NZ1948.... Some Huey pics... And the German Exchange pilot was in on the act... The C130 did a few good passes.... And Historic Flight's Harvard 1015 flown by SQNLDR Shaun Perrett... Mock battle..... The enemy... The response... first a jammed weapon after 1 round... Then heavy boys turned up.... The unimog pull... I remember from another thread there was a discussion about display cases full of models that people were eondering where they got too.... Is this them?

Great shots, nice to see that they seem to have mowed the grass at Wigram. They are the model cases I referred to in another thread, not sure if it's the ones other forum members were thinking of or not. Looks like a good promotion for Defence anyway.

That's the Matchbox kit, with a scratchbuilt pylon and nose lighting, and a sneb pod from another kit, as none of those things are in the box. Judging by the pylon and bullpup that looks to be the Matchbox A-4M in the background. With the Matchbox Victor in the case, I'd make a tentative guess that these date from the mid 80's or so.
