Does the original offer for free entry for ticketholders for the November show still apply?

Talked to the organisers and yes the offer stands. If you have a ticket from the blown out November show, you can present it to the ticket sellers at the gate and you will receive a ticket for this show in exchange.

Thanks for that Paul. Had intended to do so at the most recent show, however the wind put paid to that idea too.

Dave, could we please have this thread pinned on this sub-board, and the thread for the November 2009 event un-pinned?
I'm planning on being there, may drive down the Friday.

Hi, I'm looking at flying into Wellington on the Saturday morning and taking the train up. Is there anyone that I can catch a lift with back to Wellington please? I'd rather not be in the situation of dashing off for the train before they have finished flying. I'll chip in for costs.
I'm then planning on going to the Wright's Hill Open day (there should be a M113 there) on ANZAC, before flying out late afternoon.

The airshow finishes at 4:00pm and the train departs from Masterton station at 4:50pm and Solway station (the closest to Hood) at 4:56pm, so if you don't manage to arrange a ride, you would easily be able to make the train. The best way to ensure you get there would be to order a taxi to pick you up at Hood at 4:30pm, and they could have you at either railway station in just over five minutes or so with plenty of time to spare.
I still don't know if I've got that weekend off. I applied for leave months ago, but it was declined due to operational staff shortages. However, I've since had a wee chat to the roster centre staff (in Auckland) and they are hopeful they may be able to give me leave that weekend if they can persuade one or more of my workmates to do some overtime on their rostered days off. I guess I'll find out when I go back to work on Monday.

I definitely can't get the time off (and Tony is working that day too), but never mind....I'll still go to the airshow, but will need to bugger off about 10-15 minutes before it ends (at 4:00pm) because I'll be driving the 4:50pm train from Masterton to Wellington that day which means I will have to be at work by 4:00pm (due to lots of paperwork, getting the locomotive started, pumping up the air pressure, inspecting the train, placing it to the platform, etc, beforehand). You never know....if Errol is on that train, he may get to ride somewhere where the public aren't normally allowed to be!

An update: I've now managed to persuade one of my workmates to cover my late shift on Saturday, so I will no longer need to dash off early from the airshow to go to work. Now it's a matter of watching the weather and hoping the forecast southerly and rain on Friday pass on through by Saturday.
But even better....it means I'll be able to head off over to Wellington and take my 88½-year-old Dad to the Dawn Parade in Lambton Quay early the following morning. He is a veteran of the North African and Italian campaigns (Dad served in the 6th Field Ambulance). He used to attend the dawn parade in Hastings every year, but since the last of his ex-army buddies up there died a couple of years ago, he prefers to attend the Wellington dawn parade (he's staying at my sister's place in Lower Hutt at the moment and he enlisted in Wellington where he used to live when he was young). It will probably be his last Anzac Day as he has prostrate cancer and it has got into and spread all through his bones (although mercifully he isn't in any pain yet), and I don't think he will survive until Anzac Day next year.

I hate to say it, but I've been watching the long-range weather forecast the past couple of days and it looks a bit iffy for Masterton on Saturday. Fingers crossed that the forecasters have got it wrong, eh?

I'll be there! I'll leave the camera work to Gav and others, and simply bask in the Great War glory above my head. Hopefully see some of you there.

The weather is looking good at the moment. The sun is shining, there is a little bit of thin high cloud and no wind. Plenty of clouds over the ranges, but that is normal. Fingers crossed that the weather stays that way!

Very light (unforecast!) Southerly change working its way up the valley. Should drop off to a great day I reckon!

It was a brilliant day, the wind was light and everything flew. I forget the number of times I said to myself "how lucky are we"
Lots of highlights but the sight of the FE.2b with three SE.5s in a vic behind it was incredible!!!!
