Magnificent history shown in those Curtis. I cannot speak highly enough of them. But, there is also one very valuable and interesting adjunct to the series:
What is that British United Carvair doing on the deck at what appears to be Wellington? I have been reading quite alot of Carvair history, but that movement hasn't cropped up.
Could you do us a favour and post that pic into the Carvair thread as well so we can get someone to sniff it out?

Hi oj,
from what I can work out, SAFE Air considered purchasing Carvairs at one stage and this is probably part of a marketing effort to sell the aircraft. I have some more Carvair photos including a range of them taken when they were being modified from the DC4. I will post them for you.

Great photos...very nostalgic to see 'Herby' the chief engineer in Wellington driving the 'windbreak', third photo from the bottom...
Earned enough there as a loader/refueler to pay for a CPL in the mid 60's.

I know this thread was about the photos of the Bristols but thought this video of the SAFE Air operation would sit well here as well... I sat and watched it all the way through
