Tell the wife you've caught some rare disease that can only be treated by a specialist at Wanaka during Easter Weekend! ;D

Beags I heard they are operating out of Ohakea not Queenstown for their display but after their first display at Wanaka (Airfield attack) they go to CHC for a crew change and refuel then back to Wanaka for Formation Aeros then back to CHC/OH for refuel/overnighting. Cheers Bazza

And if you're lucky, on the practice day you will see them twice as much as both sets of crews have a go.

As the airshow at Wanaka usually finishes with massed formations of fighters, it would be neat if they could do a jet formation, with four Hornets, two Vampires, some L-39's, maybe the Dragonfly, maybe the Venom, maybe the L-29s(?), etc. That would be rather impressive. I doubt it would be able to happen though.

Have I missed it in the general press, or apart from the WOW website and this forum, there seems to have been precious little fanfare about the F18's, which WILL steal the show!!!!
Come to think of it, I haven't heard jot, anywhere. Has anyone?

I saw a TV advert for the airshow last night with lots of footage from past shows but didn't see F-18's mentioned. It did have an F-111 though.

Practices are planned for Wednesday morning and afternoon at Ohakea. Since I can't get to Wanaka, some fence sitting at OH might be in order. Are there actual timeslots beyond morning and afternoon yet?

Practices are planned for Wednesday morning and afternoon at Ohakea. Just wondering if anyone has any more specific details as to what time these are planned (beyond morning and afternoon).

Five RAAF Hornets arrived Ohakea from Williamtown Tuesday afternoon. A21-03, A21-12, A21-20, A21-35 and A21-107. They flew across via a Central Otago scenic and had DC10 N974VV from Omega as company to provide inflight fuelling. The -10 has since returned to Australia.

Well the F/A-18s did their practices today, two in the morning and two in the afternoon.
Nice to work to the sound of jets again.
The display will no doubt be well received at Wanaka.

Nice photos, Mumbles. I was hoping they'd bring A21-13 across the Tasman, as with the blue 3SQN 90th anniversary tail scheme it looks great: ADF Official.

Nice shots! That’s wet the appetite, my son and I are heading up this afternoon, looking forward to another great show. I saw the RAAF Hornet “team” in Melbourne 2007 and I’m looking forward to the contribution they will bring to WoW.

Saw the Hornets arrive at Chch airport just before lunch today. ;D
Got some photos of them out on the military apron. So while I won't be making it to Wanaka at least I can get my fill watching them come and go from here.
I take it they will be based here in Christchurch for the weekend?
