Mr Eaton has done a fantastic job on his Pitts Model 12. How far away from first flight is it, Richard? As a fellow M14P driver, I'd love to see (and hear) it flying. Outstanding effort! That colour scheme probably won't show up the oil drips either... Though we've found our new engine hardly drips any oil, a normal amount still gets past the rings and the exhaust does leave marks.

Second flight was today, 50 minutes. First flight was last Sunday, a little bit shorter!
It's a radial, so there is always "some" oil, but in this case very little.
Goes like S$%t off a shovel!
It is a credit to John, and without doubt the most prepared and best built aircraft I have had the pleasure to be involved with.

Very pretty . Interesting Bruce , that in the first picture , I notice the reflection of the guy taking the photo ( lovely paint ) , but you notice the smut . ( I however do agree with the comment ) :-)

Fantastic! Any idea if John is planning to fly competitions or will it be more of an airshow and pleasure flying machine? I saw a pair of Pitts Model 12s flying at Oshkosh in 1999 and have been a fan ever since...

Can't and won't speak for John, it's his baby.
Until I had seen PTS I had not seen a Model 12 in the flesh, but it sort of grows......and grows on you, bit like a S2 on steroids!

That's a really good looking aircraft. With that engine and canopy it almost looks like a Sukhoi SU-29 with biplane wings.
