I'm saddened to see that Pat Mullooly has passed away. He was a wartime RNZAF pilot who was among the first men of No. 3 (General Reconnaisance) Squadron to go to the Forward Area of the Pacific (Santo and Guadalcanal) in October 1942. he was second pilot on the Hudson crew of Leslie Hood. I interviewed Pat last year for my book project, and though he was ill he still kindly helped as much as he could, providing his memories and assistance.
RIP another RNZAF hero.

MULLOOLY Patrick Desmond. (RNZAF Service no. NZ 411992). Passed away at home, Tauranga, on June 20, 2010 aged 91 years. Loved husband of the late Margaret. Dearly loved father and fatherinlaw of Neil and Liz (Palmerston North), Robyn (UK), Paul and Linda (Australia), Kay and Francesco, and Julie and Mick (Australia). Much loved grandad and great grandad. A service for Pat will be held at the Pyes Pa Crematorium Chapel, 403 Pyes Pa Road, on Saturday June 26, 2010 at 2.00pm.
