The main thrust of the RNZAF interest seems to be that they are far cheaper to operate than the helicopters, having just one engine. And I think far cheaper to purchase too. They can carry troops, even paratroops I guess, cargo, etc, and can apparently operate from shorter strips than even the Porter, which seems amazing.
Even if they only bought a small number they would add to the RNZAF's fleet and capabilities. And it is another option for RNZAF pilots to train and fly in as far as roles go too I guess, and getting trained to fly this type of aircraft might be a good recruiting angle, for those who want to later get into ag aircraft maybe. Just a thought, might be wrong.
When you see those photos of one taking off from the cark park of the Narrows Golf Club, you realise there's great potential in the aircraft, though that would have been lightly loaded I guess though.

They could be used by PTSU instead of chartering the Fly My Sky BN-2, that'd keep them fairly busy.

I think the aircraft could certaintly have a niche domestic/regional role in support of the Australian Army's Regional Force Surveillance Units (RFSU) amoung others. These units have desperately sought air transport support in the past for the insertion, resupply and extraction of their 5 man sections in northern Australia. This support is now nearly unobtainable. If the ADF ever decides to fill this gap perhaps the 750XL or even the new GA Nomad could fill the gap.
