Great find. Who's aircraft was that? Does anyone know:?
Will this become the subject of one of your excellent profile artworks?

According to the book Its was first flown by F/Lt K.J Macdonald then W/O E. Atkins and F/Sgt A.J Greer.
It is assumed destroyed during the Luftwaffes Boddenplate attack on New Years day 1945 as theres no record of it after 31.12.44.

PT881 may have met her end before " Bodenplatte".
The Spitfire production list has her with No.420 RSU ( Repair and Salvage Unit ) on 14 Dec.1944.
420 RSU specialised in the recovery and repair of Spits and Tempests and in Dec.'44 was in the Netherlands at bases such as Grimbergen and Gilze-Rijn.
Looks like PT881 was beyond help as there is no mention of her after that.

I couldnt help but see that you metion 420 RSU on your forum. My dad was in this unit from 01.02.1944 until 30.09.1945. They were looking after Spitfire and Tempest. If anyone knows anything about 420RSU then I would love to here from them.
