The motto of the ATC was never 'we train to kill' - where on earth did you get that idea? 11Sqnldr You are quite right to question this silly statement (we train to kill) - flyjoe180 has, I suspect, been misled by errors on the 40 Sqn ATC site at www.40squadron.org.nz/aboutatc.phpThe site also states: 1938 The Air Defence Corps (ADC) was formed by the Air League of The British Empire. 1940 The Royal New Zealand Air Force took control of the ADC and renamed it to the Air Training Corps (ATC). Which is complete nonsense, the ATC in NZ being formed from scratch in 1941 (not 1940). There was never an 'Air Defence Corps' in NZ. Errol Cheers mate you are correct, the ATC was formed in 1941 based on the UK model which was indeed formed in 1940. Further proof ('we train to kill') that everything we read on the internet is NOT true LOL!!

Oh well there you go then, I stand corrected and my humble apologies to you 11sqnldr. And I cannot provide evidence shorty, as the statement I made was incorrect and without basis. I admit I jumped the gun and went on personal memory. I was a member of 40 SQN ATC so that's why I thought it was correct as it was taught to us as cadets. S2k will remember the same information most probably being passed on. On the more personal matter, I was never a young Rambo wannabe, nor a Tom Cruise wannabe, or anything of the like. I was a cadet receiving, and learning, inaccurate information.
1941 I knew about as being the establishment date for the ATC, I remember vividly the 50th Jubilee activities in 1991.

No need to apologise mate I do think the paintball descision is a bit naff though, i'll be doing my bit to lobby for the return of paintball as a recognised activity in due course.

Just heard last week that the reason paint balling is banned is because the government signed some UN treaty saying we won't train minors as soldiers.

So this is what Clark has been doing at the UN, plotting to dis-arm the cadets?

Wouldn't surprise me if Clark was trying to disarm the cadets.
I was going to have a rant about the plywood cuts out guns we use for drill but I don't want to be looked on 'unfavourably'.

Yeah. If you blow air in the "barrel" it turns into a pipe organ.
