Hi Peter, sadly I won't make it to this event. Can you please tell us a little more about who the crew was, and where/when/how they died? Thanks. It's good to hear they are being remembered this way after all this time.

While the memorial is to all who were killed overseas, it particulary remembers a TeAtatu ( West Auckland ) crewman W Hazard who along with six other Kiwis and one from the RAF were part of 75 Sq. Their aircraft was shot down over Weiswampach August 12 , 1944. The TeAtatu memorial is a replica of the one in Weiswampach. I will get a few pictures on the day.

The crew was H Johnson, C Mulchay,J Wright,W Elvin, W HazardE Thomson and RRS Parker (RAF). Today at the Brevet Club Battle of Britain luncheon at RNZAF Whenuapai we had a very nice Spifire display. I am unsure if it was Allen Deere, sas the speeches had started! For any one around Auckland there is Fridays unveiling at TeAtatu, Gunner Drive 11am, and on Sunday at the same time a parade and wreath laying at the Cenotaph for Air Force Day. Generally there is a good flypast by the Warbirds boys and i am told that a 757 will also appear. Its a busy week.

Thanks for the offer, I will take you up.We were meant to be in London for the Keith Park unveiling but life got in the way. With Les Munro we are looking after the NZ end of fundraising for S/L Tony Iverson and the RAF BC Memorial so I certainly will be there for that. With the co operation of Warbirds we (NZBCA) are taking a DC3 load of veterans down to Tauranga in November for the Ad Astra lunch. We have bussed before but with a membership in their 80s and 90s its now too big a day, especially with leaky fuel tanks. The next step is to tee up a RNZAF 757 for London in 2011.!!!

Nice one... They will get such a lift from flying down! Bet the 757 guys will be good to go having all those vets on board next year... Bet they will fight over who is going to fly it! Wish I could be the stewardess... Dee
