This is an awesome film of RAF aircraft during the Gulf War in 1990-91.
My best mate Mike was a boy of 11 living in Bahrein when the war kicked off, and as he was already an avid aviation enthusiast (his Dad was ex-RAF and by then flew for Gulf Air) Mike reckons that the war was the absolute best days of his life. He not only got to see masses of aerial activity in the build up to the war but also got a personal tour of the RAF compound where all these jets were based, and he got to know a lot of the pilots and groundcrew. He's got a brilliant photo on his wall of him sitting in the Tornado "Snoopy's Airways". He had told me for years about this video as he had been given it by one of the RAF guys. When he moved from the UK to NZ it had gotten lost, and he had lamented it terribly. He has literally told me so much about the video. It is apparently all out takes from TVAM, the Bahrein breakfast news programme, cut together specially for the RAF boys. So it was pretty specialto him that one of the pilots gave him a copy.
I found it by accident the other night on Youtube, emailed him the link, and he was ecstatic to finally see it again after all these years. I have to say it's every bit as good as he said, I just love it. Those were the days when the RAF was a proper Air Force, not like now with the poxy Eurofighters. It's not the fulllength of the orignal, I think he said the original was closer to half an hour.
Does anyone out there have an original copy of this? I'd love to get him a proper copy on DVD for Christmas.
