500 troops on Coast for manoeuvres
Five hundred army personnel will be deployed to the West Coast this weekend for their biggest exercise in the region in eight years.
Most will be based out of Westport — with helicopters taking off and landing at the racecourse — but some troops will also be based in Greymouth
and air force helicopters will be spotted taking off and landing at the racecourse.
There will be an open day at the Westport Stadium, on October 16.
Troops are due to start arriving on the Coast over the weekend.
