I'm keen to model both of his Hurricanes & while info on OK1 is not to hard to find , including a great build by kiwichappers on this forum a couple of years ago, info on OK2 is sketchier, or at least not so definite. The Corgi diecaste version shows a plane in Dark green/Dark Earth/ Sky, with temperate carb intake & type A1 fuselage roundels. This link en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File%3aSir_Keith_Park.jpg appears to show the front of a Vokes type tropical filter behind Sir Keith, if indeed this is OK2 as it purports to be. This teaser rnzaf.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=gotopost&board=Modelling&thread=6667&post=52470 from kiwichappers seems to show something other than A1 roundels on the fuselage. B type with yellow outers? I'm surprised no-one bit at this. Is there anything anywhere of a reliable nature on this? The Osprey "Hurricane Aces 1941-45" appears to agree pretty much with Corgi but that still doesn't constitue proof to my way of thinking. Steve.

I always thought OK-2 was his personal Spitfiire Vc that he had in Malta. There's a lovely coloured shot of him taking off in it from a newly opened strip in Malta and pulling straight up off the deck in Roger Freeman's 'RAF in Colour' or some similar title. The same take off was caught on film.

Thanks for that Dave, that sounds like exactly the sort of reference that would settle this for me. You're right of course that OK2 was his Malta mount, but references on the net have been less than conclusive & indeed raised as much unceratinty as they've answered. I'll have to see if I can track a copy of this title down. Steve.

The book is called "The Royal Airforce of World War Two in Colour" The ISBN is 0-933424-58-2. And here are the photos. Apologies for the quality but the originals aren't up to todays printing standards and this is a quick scan. On the next page is a colour photo of arguably New Zealand's two most famous airman sitting in a red MG at Malta. Keith Park and Mary Coningham.

Hi KB, thanks for putting this up, I think I probably need a copy of this book even if that is a Spit hes in rather than his Hurricane OK2. I chanced upon a couple of pics from this on other forums recently & it looks like a must have. Now to see if I can find one. I guess its begs the question, seeing as it appears to have his AVM flag under the cockpit, was this OK3? Dave, I'm sorry, I misread your first reply on this thread, OK2 was definitely a Hurricane, see the pic put up by kiwichappers in the second link I put up in my opening post. Steve.
