Great shots guys! Looks like it was a great display, damn my lack of gas money!
Ralph, fiancee Rachel and I would love to know what equipment you use to take your photos. Several have a look almost like a painting! Rach is in awe, drooling over your shots - the second Mustang shot especially. Speaking of which, how was Brett's display?

Hi Zac, nothing special about the gear I use, a Nikon D300 and in this case a Sigma 50 - 500mm lens. I have a battery back on the camera that I fill with 8 AA batteries and this give me 8 frames per second.
The trickery comes in the post processing that I do in photo shop, I use some rather special plugins which allow me to manipulate detail, remove blur, remove noise on the sky shots, makes them rather special, sometimes I purposely achieve the look of a painting, depends on how far I push the sliders in the plugins.
You notice the detail in the Catalina cockpit shots, you can clearly see each individual rivet, I like to bring out deatail in that manner, the purists would not agree but I take the view they are my photos and I like what I do.
Thanks to you and Rachel for you kind comments. You are in Hawera I think, I was born and raised in Opunake.
As for Brett's display in the P 51 he took it very carefully, he sat at the end of the turning area for along time and the Merlin sounded very rough, apparently it hadn't flown for 3 weeks, he ran it at full noise and it appeared to get on song but he only did several passes and no fancy stuff.

Guys, a stunning array of pix in here and that's what makes these days memorable ..... the action is captured for all to enjoy and we would be lost without you snapping these moments. Great stuff!
