There's a great website where someone has dutifully recorded info on (almost all?) participating aircraft at Richmond in 1988: www.scramble.nl/?option=com_showreports&view=article&ct=AU&id=3929At first glance I can't see the Airtruks, but on the VHS the Orange-and-White example was called a Skyfarmer so it may be under that name?

Many thanks Zac - I will try the site you mention
The Skyfarmer is a version of the PL12 so that is certainly it
Best regards
Ian

Airtruk numbers.
1043 PL12U prototype and demonstrator, VH-TRX/ VH-TRM/ ZK-TRN not delivered/ VH-TRM. 1144 PL12U, VH-TRX, VH-ETE to Thailand 7xx. 1145 PL12U, VH-ETG to Thailand 7xx. 1146 PL12U, VH-ETZ to Thailand 7xx.
G679 Used to rebuild ZK-CWU as T320 engine version. G680 Used to rebuild ZK-CWN as T320 engine version. G998 T300 version to be ZK-ERO but used to rebuild ZK-DVN.
G9100 Used to rebuild VH-MLJ (G357).
If anyone anywhere can send a list of the Thai PL12's with numbers that tie up with makers serial numbers (or Australian registrations) you will solve one of the great mysteries of Australian Agricultural Aviation.

I wonder what percentage of Airtruks were actually ever sold for cash money as opposed to leased out like they did with most NZ operators?

Hi Peter, My name is Dan Arkley, I noticed you had photographed a fair few Airtruks and I just recently have been gifted many photos of my father Nigel Arkley, who you may know of as he was a top dresser in the 80’s, these photos are of Airtruks on the ground and at work in the air. Is this something you would be interested in having a look at? We would love to share them with you. Around 50 photos taken by of of my father with Airtruks. If you’re interested either email me on camandkady@gmail.com or you could give me a call on 021867309

Hi Dan and welcome
I flew with Nigel, firstly at the first Air Scout School at Matamata (of which your Grandad was one of the chief architects) and later at the Wellington Aero Club

Of the other three James operated PL-12, ZK-CJT was under their ownership for just a month - June-July 1974, then went back to Transfield (NZ) Ltd. It then spent some time with Air Contracts at Masterton before ending up at Waimate with Skyfarmers. Tail hit power lines while spraying, cr Willowbridge, near Waimate, 20Oct85. Pilot Coloman Bolger. ZK-CJT at Ardmore 28th March 1978 Recently I asked WONZer delticman if Wanganui Aero Work ever operated Airtruks and to my surprise he said "Yes - CJT and CVA." But Peter's excellent survey doesn't seem to mention WAW anywhere. Can anyone shed some light on this for me?
