Just a side note TPE has been parked up as out of engine hours, by all accounts its a heap of shit and is a poor performer ie up there with a 400!

Thanks for the heads-up James, I've never heard much about the Stallion conversion. Perhaps a PT6 is in the pipeline for it?..... My research project into the Fletchers of WAW and affliates is getting quite detailed, have started to go through accident records and add the details in with individual aircraft. Still no pics?

I once helped repair the leading edge of a fletcher wing after a duck strike. I crawled inside with the dolly to hammer up the rivets. It was so tight i nearly ran out of oxygen. They had to pull me out by the ankles. Don't try that trick if you are claustrophobic. I did a lot of repairs on fletchers but i only got to go on one topdressing flight.

Apparently Yellow EGK was an experiment to make the aircraft more visible....?? I need to get more info, but in a treasure trove/container of parts we have a yellow canopy and yellow stabilator.
Good to hear EML is getting the birthday treatment! I get immense satisfaction treating corrosion.
Former Fieldair loader drive Graeme Mills was in touch and has sent me some great shots of EUH working, will upload these for you Fletcherphiles after work.

Chewy - we had a Cresco in for repair after a birdstrike to the wing....we took off the outer panel and worked on it separate. For me, just being right down the back of the fuse can be bad enough....but in the wing?! That's bizarre! For whom did you work at the time?

What type of birds were they... telephone line, fencepost, no.8 wire or tree? or were they actually of the feathered variety ;D
Looking at the wing of the Fletcher, I would not want to get in (and shoulderwise really couldn't). Are you a jockey chewy?

Came across some pictures of a fletcher in the holiday albums from our trip around the East Coast back in 2007. Unfortunately not working , but the shell of BWV on poles. A bit of photoshop magic though and I could make the second picture look like it a working fletcher just coming off a strip... if I could use photoshop. Ignore that bloke who has tainted the second photo, he insisted on being in it... I hope one day with the GAP's museum it can find a home inside, but in the mean time it is nice it is accessible.

Thank-you Mike, it's great to see a Fletcher displayed - albeit outside. Much appreciated! And I'm not sure about the exact species concerned....young Butch Erni merely said "duck"....mind you, he later claimed it was a deer Purely by chance I found a very recent photo of CRF, thanks to a Tauranga spotter's personal site (http://mattsaviation.fab.net.nz/tauranga6a.html). Excellent! Does anyone know the actual identity of "BDS" in the Tauranga Classic Flyers Museum? Their site says that "Our aircraft, an FU24 300, was retrieved from Maungaturoto, having sat near a farm top-dressing airstrip for many years. Parts needed to make it complete were kindly donated by SuperAir Hamilton. Hard work and a coat of paint have produced a worthy display piece. It bears the registration ZK-BDS to represent the first Fletcher registered in NZ." A very cool tribute....mind you, if it were me I'd have made her a 225 with no canopy and curved hopper

"BDS" at Tauranga is the original CRY which came from Aerial work Mid Northern, which has merged with SuperAir.

At a time, CRY and BOF were the last topdressing 300's left, both plying their trade around Northland for a while, although BOF finished at Kawerau. CRY in the alias scheme is well preserved at Classic Flyers, I did take some pics when I was back in April. Wish I had taken more of the details underneath though... I agree with Zac though, I wish the Fletcher was a bit more authentic, but as it was donated by Super Air I can accept that they should have recognition for it. Kevin Erni had the birdstrike? Tell him one of the Stokes boy's says hi, he should remember.

Back in my youth I used watch the last 300 working around the Hawkes Bay CMG, used to be based at Napier. Must have been late 80's or early 90's. App they nicer to fly compared to 400 but would say useless for going uphill, and thats a 400 so a 300 would be interesting. This might interest you Zac, only thing left from 400 days is one burnt small axe that have in cockpit, my plan is to frame it. It was in is DZC about only straight thing left of her
