In 1994 i joined Aero Support in fielding when i left the Air Force. I worked there for two years until i rejoined the Air Force as a civvy. We de-skinned the wings of a fletcher there. I got inside the wing with a dolly to help knock the rivets out. They had to peel back the skin to get me out. I also fit into the cargo spot in an Agwagon. We had the fuel tank out though.

Tukituki, the old man certainly thought our 300 was the equal of the 400 that replaced it. Of the two, BOF was his favoured mount for actually flying. It was even used for pleasure flying, checking the snow on Ruapehu and the like, CBD was never used in such a way ;D
I wonder if the big blunt nose, extra fuel tanks and so forth actually diminished any advantages a bigger donk gave. I suppose the big chord wing doesn't help either!

Unfortunately not working , but the shell of BWV on poles. A bit of photoshop magic though and I could make the second picture look like it a working fletcher just coming off a strip... if I could use photoshop. Needs a bit of work on the shading but hopefully this is what you had in mind. Cheers, Stu.

A Fieldair Fletcher in the hills above Karapiro? This is James and Robinson territory!

A Fieldair Fletcher in the hills above Karapiro? This is James and Robinson territory! Minor detail ;D Prelude to a turf war and test of the Fletcher's dogfighting capabilities? To tell the truth, the shot from the top of Maungakawa (or the Sanatorium Hill as we always called it) was the only one I could easily find that kind of worked

We had the Fieldair unit in Te Awamutu for about a year after we sold out to them.
Nice work Stu, worthy of a Karma point!

I found a few more Fletcher negatives, including one in color FU-24, VH-EOC from 12/81, (Or EQC?) FU-24A, VH-CYM, Superair, 9/73, and VH-FMJ Armadale 24/1/97

Thanks for the shots, Joe! The more the merrier! It looks to me that the first subject is EQC. The shot of FMJ looks like it could've been taken in New Zealand!

Thank-you very much O Hairy One! Very appreciated. The EUH photo is better than any I'd be able to get of her in her current state. Here we see her in an earlier Fieldair scheme (photo from Gisborne Aviation Preservation Society website): I'm looking for photographer credit for the following photos, as well as location and date if poss. Hi Zac. I took this photo some years back (sorry exact date unknown but it would have been the early 80s) at Ohingaiti. they were operating, if I remember correctly, 3 Fletchers off a strip just east of the rail line. If you go to google maps and pull in Ohingaiti you can see a strip depicted. Cheers Ash

Just curious did BXX actually fly for WAW or was it just rebuilt from BHZ parts by TEAL and then sold to Adastra?.

As far as I know, ZK-BXX was built up by TEAL (at Mechanics Bay and Whenuapai) and spent it's entire six year active life with Adastra.
