The seat back in DZC must have been a bit uncomfortable after a full days work James? What have you got in EML? Check out Oreganaero.com, seat cushions etc, they seem to have a range of sizes and shapes which may work ok in a Fletcher.

Hey Rik, Cheers for comments on the fletcher models, quite a monumental undertaking in making the plugs and moulds for these! Id do you a deal if you wanted 3. Mikes 300 is a awesome looking model, and really looking forward to seeing it done.
Maybe Peter Lewis may have some pics of CMZ as a 300?.
Cheers. Alan

I never used a back seat in DZC. As one of many failing the FU24 950 model has is its not designed for tall people and my knees end up aroung my neck! I used to get real bad back problems. Normal for FU24 pilots, on a 950 you can't adjust rudder petals like a 954 model. So boss did a mod to drop floor board by 1 inch and I took back seat out so to give me more room and drop the height of my knees and therefore help my back. With DZC passing away and getting EML am sorted as its a 954 and don't have a back problems, I couldn't go back to a 950.

Its funny you say that James, Steve used to have the same problem, I think we moved the tops of the pedals back and made a different seat back for him, I know it took ages to sort out and plenty of moaning on his behalf, if you ever need special lanky bugger cushions for a 950 let me know iv got a set

I was rummaging though the archives and found this shot of JAA taken a few years ago, thought it might be worth adding to this thread....

Hi thomarse, unfortunatly nothing remains of CMG, it was written off several years back, we brought the wreckage back and used a lot of it on CMZ and SAJ but sadly when dad retired, the center section and most of the fuse went for scrap, as did all our loaders and a lot of other usefull bits an pieces.Nice pic of JAA stu

iflylo, you said a little way back you had a few new fins to use. Does the new mod require the complete fin to be replaced or can you use the original fin with new attatchment design and dorsal fin? I am thinking of the Super Air mod but don't know anything much about the different mods available. Seems a shame to have to waste those new fins.
I agree the EMK paint scheme has always caught the eye as you go through the Topdressers books for the umpteenth time, the original Topdressers would have to be the best NZ aviation book around. Just wish they would do an updated version.
What will your main work be when you get going, spraying or fertilizer?

Hi Weheka, Im not too sure about if the fins are are total replacement or a kit thats incorporates the existing fin. thats someting im yet to find out. our main work to get us going will be bulk solids then hopefully once some money comes in I can track down a James Aviation spray base or make one and modify my existing spray booms for liquid fert work, and slurry .

All sounds good hope it goes well for you. Maybe with the "powers that be" new rules re the Fletcher loads etc, the 400 may be a more viable machine than some of the turbines. Hopefully the farmers keep spending and theres work for everyone.

40 years this year since the first 400hp conversion was done, they should have ironed out all the bugs by now.. James Aviation used to build up Fletchers from reconditioned parts and spares so that then when a Fletcher arrived for an overhaul or rebuild its rego could be swapped onto a waiting rebuilt airframe.Just like Grandpas axe.

We are still unsure when we bought CBD off James Aviation as to whether it was really CBD or CBE. One thing for sure, the engines were swapped over before delivery so the combination was definitely one with the other...
