Hi there zkbhj Des Neill flies OAS now, based in Mosgiel. And yes it was the cresco based in Wanaka I believe that he took ownership on the 1-12-2010.
You might be interested to know that he has recently purchased the fletcher ZK - WLP which was ZK - BHJ.
Cheers Mike. D.

Fantastic photos, Graeme and Mike - they really show these workhorses at their best.
Is the Cresco always flown from the right hand seat? I've never paid much attention to this before, but these latest photos show the pilots in the right seat, so I was curious to know if this is typical.
Also, is it common to see other people out photographing topdressers, or is this activity restricted to the hardcore aviation fanatics only. I mean this in the sense that if you go out to any airport, you see a number of people photographing the movements there, but I'm curious if capturing wonderful shots like the above is a common activity amongst other photographers?

Hi there Cosair67 I don't see many other people out photographing the topdressers. How ever I do make contact with the pilots and go out on the job or where they are working rather than at the airport. Better opportunity for working shots. Some the places are tricky to say the least to find.
I am a ag plane fanatic though and will chase, cresco's, fletchers, and my favourite the Walter fletchers all around otago and Southland as this is where i reside. At the end of the day it is just a obsessive hobby. Cheers Mike D.

Hi Allan, while I was in Gisborne, Frank flew over in BVR. ;D He has had quite a bit of interest from a few enquiring about forming a syndicate. He is working hard at it with the hope it will stay in NZ. There are about 25 for sale in North America and he can't afford taking the risk by flying it up there in the hope someone will buy it. This is his last Beaver project so I hope she stays. Bill Luther flew it for an hour a couple of weeks back too and absolutely loved it.
I try to get out to strips when back in Gisborne to capture the Cresco's and XL at work. Andy and his crew are always obliging and appreciate the photos I send back. I wish I had done it years ago when Beavers and Dak's were "ruling the roost" in Gisborne.

Hi Corsair67, I am a bit the same as Mike, I loaded for Central Aviation in the mid 70s, it was like a working holiday, and being involved in aviation at the same time, I was also learning to fly , it was hard getting out of a 400 fletcher into a cherokee 140, not much happened when the throttle was firewalled, compared to the vibrating 400. I saw most of Otago and Southland from the 400 EMA which we had at Naseby, I put the first load into it brand new. Thats why I like them, they are a real workhorse, safe and robust. This forum has made me try and achieve better photos to show. When you see one working it is like an art, especially spraying a paddock, it is a real buzz zooming along a paddock at 6 foot at 120 kts.

Awesome Cresco pics. Very clear and captures the aircraft nicely. Is the Cresco always flown from the right hand seat? I've never paid much attention to this before, but these latest photos show the pilots in the right seat, so I was curious to know if this is typical. Many of the Crescos are dual control and these only have one set of power/prop/condition levers in the centre of the cockpit. My understanding is that they are typically flown from the RH seat so the pilot retains the normal right hand on stick and left hand on throttle. Many duals have the LH stick removed. All single control models are flown from LH seat. Hope that makes sense? Somebody correct me if I'm wrong! I've got a list of all 38 Crescos and which are dual/single if anybody interested.
