I'm trying to ID an Ag plane out of idle curiosity, not one of the usuals, the best way I can describe it is looking like a turbine Agricola. Tail dragger, hopper behind pilot (I think) turbine engine. I saw it written up a while back in NZ Wings (maybe a few years ago) I think it was eastern european made but haven't been able to find it on the net. I think only a few were imported, may have been re-exported for all I know. No special reason for wanting to know other than it popped into my mind & has now become an itch that I can't scratch. Thanks, Steve.

Steve, I think the aircraft you refer to is a Zlin 137T(?).
There were several imported into NZ a few years back, and I think they operated in Otago/Southland somewhere?

Thats it, just about ugly enough to be attractive. I had in mind PZL originally but obviously wrong, sort of not too far out though. I'd love to see one in the air, now I know what it is I'll try & find out where they may be, We're heading south after Christmas & although it probably the wrong season I'll see what I can track down. Thanks for the heads up & links guys. Steve.

As far as I can tell, 3 of the 8 imported are still current. ZK-WLO and ZK-VIH with Willow Air (NZ) Ltd., Milton ZK-PJO with Kairanga Aviation Ltd., near Palmerston North.
Your best bet may be the Ashburton Aviation Museum who have ZK-DOZ/2 ex-Flying Ag Company Ltd., Alexandra which has completed its 3000 hrs.

Cool, the Ashburton museum was on the list of to does, I might have to check out Milton on the way thru too, maybe let my fingers do the walking first. Thanks for that company info. Baron, thanks for that youtube vid, that is excellent & what a cool plane, the earlier radila engined ones in that are fabulous & definitely ugly enough to be beautiful. ;D Am I not the only Zlin fan? Steve.

That'd be great Dave, we'll be passing thru that way too, I just hope the family don't name our trip Dad's Great Zlin Hunt. Pity we don't have any of the radial jobbies in the country, they're just so cool. Steve.

Dragonfly, thanks too for that link. Very impressive but they weren't going anywhere in a hurry were they. I prowled several other links on Youtube, some interesting stuff about the Cmaleks but I don't reckon any Kiwi ag loader would be pushed to beat those guys for turnaround times. Studentpilot, ok ok, lets just say I think they're beaudy mate. ;D Steve.
