Thanks China for reviving this thread, a few to view at skywagons.net as well. Great to see the old girls working though.

I know this is a Cessna 180 thread but Anthony Galbraith and I got to fly in this 185 on Waitangi day. Made the mistake of letting Anthony sit up front with the owner and he got handed the controls once we were airborne. Its amazing how much of the lords prayer I remembered from primary school!! This aircraft lives in the hangar opposite mine at Rangiora. Photo credit Allan Bowman via nzcivair.blogspot.co.nz/2011/09/cessna-185b-zk-mhb.html

Yes, I never realised how big a 180/185 actually was until I had to help move this one back into the hangar. Makes an Auster look small Damon.........well the T7 anyway. ;D

Thanks Mit

Hi There, I just came across a photo of Bruce McLaren and Jack Brabham standing by Cessna ZK-BGL in 1960. On the back of the photo it says: "Jack Brabham, Bruce McLaren, Manager "Mobil" NZ, Self, Cessna ZK-BGL 1960. The "Self" Turns out to be Lance "Snow" Gatehouse , founder of Aerial Work Marlborough. Now, can anyone help with who is the 5th man in the background getting out of the plane? Here is the photo, enjoy!

This looks different. Appears to have flairings on the legs but is that the only difference. Looks really good anyhow...

terrynz - might help if you posted the photo.
Incidentally the story goes that in 1962 Jack Brabham learnt to fly in a Cessna 180 in the UK - which he then got ferried out to Tasmania, one of the passengers being Eoin Young who later was/is a well known Kiwi motoring journalist
