There has been a lot of mention on the forum of the Barr Broithers, a topdressing company, that seems to have been established in 1950. But who were the brothers?
Was one of them perhaps John "Snow" Barr, who was a wartime Corsair pilot?

Yup, John Barr (the main man) and two brothers, Colin being one of them. See the "Super Men" book which has their story in it. They had a reputation as a bit of a bunch of wild men.

Thanks Peter. Any idea if John Barr is still alive?

John Barr was driving a spray heli [269] next door , with fish fertilizer and 24d weed spray.Fish had a tendancy to coat the rotors, the end result of not washing rotors was a stinking heap of John, fish, 24D 269 and a pine stump.

John and Colin are both very much alive and were both at the 60th Aerial Topdressing Reunion in Masterton back in May, John was the guest speaker.

Thanks to Graeme (kiwibeaver) and Ray Deerness, I am now in touch with John "Snow" Barr. Thanks to all who have helped me track him down.
