Hi guys, I have a lot of friends and family in the RNZAF and Safe-Air and I will hear most rumours going around be it rumours to do with the Skyhawks etc but with the end in sight for the Huey I have not heard a single rumour so has any-one out there heard any rumours regarding the end fate of the Huey once the NH-90 comes on board???

It will continue to be operated until all the roles (CT, SAR etc) are fully up and running with the NH90 and sufficient crews trained to meet OLOC or DLOC or whichever it is (I can never remember!). The upshot being at least another few years of Huey operations yet.

Phil, the ones that have already been taken out of service, are they currently inhibited in a hangar? Or have they been moved elsewhere?

Sorry I'm not sure, I seem to recall they were in the hangar, but I've been away from Ohakea for a while now so I'm not up to speed on the latest.

One of the reasons I asked the question was because a couple of weeks ago while driving past Base Woodbourne I noticed a Huey parked up by the Training School and then a few days later I saw all the Seasprites parked up outside which got me wondering if the Training School will get hold of a number of the Hueys??? Also was the Huey I saw already used by the School???...just seemed to seemed to be an odd place to park up an operational Huey.

The Huey was this one and it is an instructional airframe. Here are 5 of the Seasprite helicopters when they were parked outside for a day or so, the 6th frame was parked on the other side out of view. Went back the next day and got some photos of the four Strikemasters and four Mitsubishi aurcraft parked in a row and that looked quite neat.

Is there some work going on in the ATS hangar?? The ATC Flying course in January is having to use a grass flightline due to apron space being used by the Devon Instructional frames..... this with the pics above suggest the hangar is being emptied maybe?? A refurb perhaps?

sounds like it was time to paint the hangar floor. Would the seasprites we got be the same vintage etc as per the ex RAN ones before they were updated to G models. What happened to our F models. one is at wigram ?, one is at Devonport ?

The one at Devonport isn't one of ours, it's an ex USN frame that was being used by the fireys for training. There's some photos of it before it was painted on this board somewhere I think (that is assuming the Navy don't have another one? We took our very bare F model out to them a couple of months back to do some trials with).
