I saw the pointy hills and thought it was Tahiti or somewhete exotic like that. Bloody hell Dave. Wish we were flying there. I'd probably develop a very 'convenient' ear problem while there It was indeed Queenstown the other day which has its own distinct beauty. Thanks Ykato

I passed through Tahiti once on the way back from the UK. 2am and there was a distinct air problem, rather than ear problem. It was stiflingly hot, and the place stank, they whole atmosphere. Not my idea of a tranquil place to visit. Worse still, Air New Zealand hadn't mentioned at any point that we were stopping there, when I bought the ticket, checked in, boarded, etc, till we took off from LA after a mad dash as the plane was an hour late after the Air NZ computeres had died. First thing I hear after take off is Welcome to this flight to Tahiti. What??!!
I was with my sister and for some time we wondered if we were on the right aircraft. All the other passengers around us were frogs so no comprende, and the cabin crew had all gone to bed on take off, which was appaulling service. A lady got airsick and spewed on a seat and her husband took 10 minutes finding a member of staff to help. He said they were all asleep. God knows what would have happened in an emergency. Surely they were a fresh crew, someone should have been on duty?
Anyway, that's my experience of Tahiti, a bigger shite hole than Queenstown from what I could make out. Turns out we were actually going to Auckland, and were not going to get an enforced holiday in the French colonies. Nice of them to tell us.

We overhaul their engines when we get paid. Indians are not the best group of customers to deal with.

Ha chewy wondered when that would come up, especially regarding VJM. He has a reputation in fields other than aviation.

Was it here in NZ to take the 100+yr old bottle of whiskey that was found in Antarctica back to Scotland for analysis. Doesn't he own the Scottish distillery?
