I had never seen any nose art on RNZAF Catalinas (apart from the commonly used 'Dumbo' marking to denote pilot and aircrew rescues. However while in the RNZAF Museum the other day, on the tour to the storage hangar I noticed a large scrapbook of photos of Catalina operations and life in the flying boat squadrons. This is situated on a tble near the Catalina hull. A photo that jumped out at me (among a great collection it has to be said) was this one, which i snapped with the digital camera. A Catalina with a really nice piece of nose art. Does anyone know it's identity? It must be in No. 6 (FB) Sqn as there's a large X, and their squadron code was XX Close up Does anyone know of other Catalinas in RNZAF service carrying artwork or individual names?
